A father and daughter duo have completed a renovation of a 1990s kitchen, transforming it into a vintage-inspired space that reflects their shared passion for design and nostalgia. The project highlights their craftsmanship and vision, and the new kitchen is now a focal point of their home.
The renovation was carried out over several months by John and Emily Carter, who aimed to preserve the nostalgic elements of the original 90s kitchen while adding vintage touches. The project included replacing modern appliances with retro-style fixtures, restoring original cabinetry, and adding decorative elements like vintage lighting and patterned tiles.
According to Emily Carter, the goal was to create a space that combines nostalgia with functionality. The duo worked closely with local artisans to source authentic vintage materials and fixtures. The renovation was completed in late March, and the kitchen now serves as a showcase of their design skills and shared memories.

Nostalgia Drives Vintage Home Renovations
In recent years, there has been a surge in homeowners renovating spaces to reflect nostalgic styles, particularly from the 80s and 90s. The Carter family’s project is part of this broader trend, emphasizing the emotional connection people have with certain design eras. The 1990s, with its distinctive color palettes and fixtures, remains a popular inspiration for vintage renovations.
John Carter, a retired carpenter, and his daughter Emily, an interior designer, have collaborated on several projects before. Their latest renovation was inspired by Emily’s childhood memories of her family’s kitchen, which they aimed to preserve and enhance.
“We wanted to bring back the charm of the 90s while making it functional for today’s needs.”
