Home Depot’s Hubspace app brings controls for compatible smart-home devices from different product categories into one place. At House Beautiful’s Whole Home in Charleston, the retailer demonstrated app-connected lighting and other products, including an interactive light display; broader compatibility and performance details were not provided in the report.
Home Depot demonstrated Hubspace, its app for controlling compatible smart-home products, at House Beautiful’s Whole Home event in downtown Charleston, South Carolina. The tool brings controls for products such as lights, thermostats, outlets and lawn sprinklers into one app, though the report does not detail the full range of supported devices or independent performance testing.
The demonstration took place in a luxury condo transformed for the annual Whole Home project, where designers created the interiors and Home Depot supplied the connected-home element. The app uses a smartphone and an internet connection to manage compatible devices, according to House Beautiful. The report says users can control certain products bought at Home Depot through Hubspace, but it does not establish that every product sold by the retailer works with the app.
House Beautiful describes support for household and outdoor categories, including indoor outlets, thermostats, lawn sprinklers, ceiling fans, lights, doors and locks. It also cites a “Vacation Mode” that simulates occupancy while residents are away. The source does not specify how that mode operates for each device or whether every listed category is compatible with every Hubspace setup.
For the event, Home Depot created “The Color Canopy,” an interactive lighting display intended to evoke the Charleston sky. Visitors could also see demonstrations of app-connected products. The installation illustrated one use for connected lighting, but the report gives no measurements of energy use, reliability, installation costs or other outcomes.
One App Across Home Devices
For homeowners, bringing multiple compatible product controls into one app could reduce the need to switch between separate applications for routine tasks. A single interface may make it easier to adjust lights or climate settings and manage certain devices while away, depending on the products installed and their connection requirements.
The approach also links Home Depot’s retail business to the growing market for connected-home equipment. A shopper considering a thermostat, fan or outdoor product may find app compatibility relevant alongside price and installation needs. However, the report does not compare Hubspace with other smart-home platforms or establish whether its compatibility range is broader than competitors’. Consumers will need to check the specifications for each device before purchase.
The Charleston installation showed how app-controlled lighting can be used as part of a designed space, not just as a practical control feature. That is a demonstration of a possible use, rather than evidence that Hubspace changes how all users experience or manage their homes.

The Charleston Home Demonstration
House Beautiful’s Whole Home project brought designers together to furnish and style a condo in downtown Charleston. Home Depot’s contribution was to connect selected products through Hubspace, making the project a live demonstration of smart-home controls within a finished interior. The event included a curated pop-up and product demonstrations for visitors.
App-controlled home devices already exist, as the original report acknowledges. The development described here is Hubspace’s role as a shared control point for compatible products in several categories. The article does not give a launch date for the app, list supported brands beyond Home Depot’s products, or describe technical standards and setup requirements. Its account focuses on the Whole Home display and the features presented there.

Compatibility And Setup Details
The report does not provide a complete compatibility list, pricing information, setup instructions, or details about whether Hubspace requires particular networks, devices or accounts. It also does not say which product brands beyond Home Depot’s own offerings are supported, or whether controls and features vary by model.
Claims about convenient management and occupancy simulation are descriptions of the app’s features, not independent evaluations of security, reliability or results. The source gives no technical testing, user data or comparison with competing systems. Readers should check the current Hubspace app and individual product specifications for supported devices and requirements before buying.

Check Device Support Before Buying
House Beautiful’s report documents a demonstration, not a newly announced rollout schedule or a forthcoming product milestone. It does not identify a next event, software update or expansion of Hubspace compatibility. People interested in the system can review Home Depot’s current product listings and Hubspace information to confirm whether specific devices work together and what setup they require.
Any wider assessment will depend on details not included in the report, such as the size of the supported product range, ease of setup, ongoing app performance and how the system handles devices from different categories. Until those details are available, the Charleston display is best understood as an illustration of Hubspace’s intended use rather than proof of a universal connected-home system.
